new lawn mower will not stay running?

brand new craftsman lawn mower (4.5 horse power, 22" side discharge, model#917-385320) ran good first time, but will not stay running ever since. after you prime the engine and pull the cord, the engine starts but dies from a lack of gas (if you continue to press the prime button it stays running). should i return it to sears or is there something i'm missing

fuel supply problem..........remove fuel line at carb..... run fuel into a container from end that you pulled from carb.......... remove spark plug...clean and dry it.......... spray a shot of ether into spark plug hole.......... remove air filter to access carb throat,,, loosen gas cap to see if vent is clogged... better yet leave it off till you start engine if you can... after about ten minutes screw in spark plug ... spray a shot of ether into carb when starting... with new gas in tank... youve done almost everything i know ive never had all these things not work... sometimes ive had too repeat cleaning of spark plug.... bad fuel or a little condensate water will give you coniption fits ....trying to start but youll see .... do these things and it will start
