Mend Tecumseh 15.5 Plug Spark Day

Magneto failure?

Other than not starting, how can you test a Magneto. I have replaced the plug and still no spark at the plug. If I let the mower sit for a day it will start and run for about 10 Min. and then die for another day. The engine is a TECUMSEH 15.5 vertical on a mtd lawn mower.

You don't say how old it is, but assuming electronic ignition, you probably have a duff coil. Replacement with a known good unit is the only diagnosis possible here, beyond checking that the problem isn't a intermttent safety switch or simlar. Check this by disconnetng the 'kill' wire at the engine. If it now runs for longer, there's your problem.
