how can i remove the agitator from my hotpoint washer?

Here is a link. I am in the process myself at the moment. My Hot Point will not spin or agitate. The belt looks a bit worn but I also see a lot of oil on the metal floor of the washer. I am thinking the tranmission has worn... this is my last attempt at finding an easy "cure" before I go by a new machine (NOT a Hot Point!!)
