i have the same brother 870 machine n it buzzes n stops..dnt understand the problem ..plz help...

I had the same problem.
I changed the battery (really isn't a battery, is a big capacitor) and the machine now work correctly.

I repair electronic board and a problem like this is very strange. I think that the problem is not the battery but some wrong datas in the ram memory near the battery. When I removed the battery I cleared the memory.
Now I have closed the machine and I have no time to try if it's really, I'll keep the dubt.

change capacitor on memory PCB(small printed circuit board)
value .047F 5.5v can be found at RS item# 295-895 price 2.75 sterling pound
I had the same problem a month ago
if any one can find the service manual for this "Brother Compal Galaxie 870" it will be great help.

Hello Cynthia,
Sounds like the machine has gone out of time, try a new needle first and if it still misses stitches that is the problem, you can do it yourself, if you e-mail me I will attach instructions.
