Mend Hoover AC121 Washing Machine Motor Spin

How can I get my hoover Performa AC121 to agitate and spin?

I have a Hoover Performa AC121. Over the last few days it has stopped agitating and spinning and when it was running on other functionsthe motor appeared to be arcing. Having some experince of washing machines I concluded the brushes needed replacing. This I have done and it has stopped the arcing, but we still have not restored the agitation in wash cycle and the spin seems not to be functioning either. Any Ideas? Could it be the controller?

Could you tell me how to use this washing machine? we just moved into a new home and the washing machine was here but we can't seem to get it to get on a right cycle and then unlock.
