try downloading Spy-Bot Not Spyware Bot! go to download.com.
Spy-Bot relies on donations but is the best for finding adware and removing it safely.
You dont say what anti virus you have most will remove a virus but it depends where it is and how it got onto the pc in the first place.
Usually there are some which put an icon on the system tray these are very difficult at times to remove.
Google it just tap in the name of the virus and see what comes up there are always fixes out there.
