i dont know about changing the belt to cure the smell,however myself and my dad yesterday replaced the belt and spindle,its hard work and if your not confident in these things,and physically strong,dont do it its hard work,however if you want to do it yourself good luck.turn it upside down take bottom off, you have got to prise the belt on to the moter,the shops have a tool,we dont,brut strenth
