Sears Kenmore 116 5561190?

The power head on the does nio longer turn the beater brush. I am attempting to seperate the top from the bottom to repair it. The sides of the head says, insert screw driver and seperate but something else needs to be done. The light works but the power does not get to the beater brush. How do I repair this? The belt is fine.
