Mend Sears Black Bottom Years

Remove black plastic brush bottom?

Sears canister vaccum, about 20 years old but works fine. I want to find out how to remove the plastic black bottom piece there is something stuck under it. The brush spins and vaccums but a loud noise from something inside.

The top cover is what gets removed to access the inside. There are two screws under the light cover (cover just pulls off). After the screws are out, you might need to pry on the sides a little from the bottom to get the cover off.
