Mend Kenmore 116 Power Cord

Kenmore Model 116 power cord replacement?

I obtained a new power cord from Sears to replace a frayed cord. I have not been able to gain access to the connections inside the vacuum. I removed two screws from the front and one from the rear, but still can't remove the compartment cover. I have searched and cannot find other screws. No instructions came with the new cord.

After staring at the vacuum for 1 hour..... figured out the whole hand assembly slides off towards the back of the the unit. Of course you need the one screw off in the rear of the handle.
Then all covers come off fine.
