Mend Tecumseh 40 Engine Spark Lawnmower

How do I set the clearance for the ignition gap on my Tecumsen 40 modelctr4?

I had to take off my coil on my tecumsen 40 engine to get rid of the rust as I could not get a spark. What clearance should it be set at. It is a self propelled lawnmower Model Sovereign NTR 460TR 17 inch cut with a Tecumsen 40 engine

well alot of technitions will say different things and most will tell you to check the book and use a feeler gage to get the proper gap, which is correct to get 100% effective timing, I am also a technition and I almost always use a regular business card which will be anywhere from 11 to 13 thousanths and place it between the magnet and the coil and this is usually where the oem will tell you to gap it anyway.
