Mend AEG 80820 Dishwasher Start Button Power

aeg favorit 80820 dishwasher won't start?

The dishwasher won't start when pressing the on/off button. It's as if the power has failed, but the interior light works, so it hasn't done so.

What normally happens is - 1. push on/off button and then the program button, 2. all the indicator lights flash on then off, leaving just the 'current activity' light illuminated, 3. after a couple of seconds the water starts to enter the machine.
None of that now happens, the machine seems absolutely 'dead', except the interior light functions when the door is opened.

The first thing to happen is that water enters the machine. Do you have any water entering? It won't start without water...
