Good afternoon,I’d thought I’d add to this site and have a good karma experience since I’ve been able to fix my own drier and washer machine and dish washer over the several years from this site , even though I have a deep knowledge of electronics, still this site and feedback have helped a great deal ,
A licensed Electrician / white goods tradesmen will be required For any further testing of voltage and plumbing in accordance with state laws, Please note my experience is shared as I’ve found a simple mechanical fault which required no other prohibited testing , please note .
the 550 Eziset model 36S550 model Simpson , not agitating, only one direction and clothes getting tangled and all modes , one travel agitating , spins ok ,
BEFORE WORKING ON THIS MACHINE OR ANY OTHER , I’VE UNPLUGGED IT FROM THE 240 VOLT WALL SOCKET ,
PLEASE DO SO BEFORE ANY WORK COMMENCED !!!!! AND WATER SUPPLY !!!!!! HOT AND COLD!!!!! TURNED OFF!!!!
On laying this washer on it’s side down ,I Found on the floor , under the washer , a plastic finger cam , this plastic cam has a finger within two notches and a circle, the arrow head in moulded in the plastic ring Which breaks off and you will / might find this on the floor under the washer machine, Which I was lucky enough to find , THANKGOD and this part is about $23.00 from big warehouse spares on line , if there Is no physical damage to the plastic cam Or gearbox , belt motor , etc.. there may be another , issue , my motor has one CAPACITOR, this means that there is one control phase wiring in the motor as other motors may have a reversing winding to allow the motor to turn in the opposite direction via electrical means AND THIS LIKE THE MAIN ELETRICIAL CONTROLLER , THERE COULD BE A COMMAND FAULT , SO BE CAREFUL , not as per mechanical means , by
‘ locking’ The drum / tub , so be weary , testing and further will require a licensed electrician, PLEASE BE WARNED !
You Will find this Part not available on this model number used , But try the next model or ring white good spare part places , on line , is a good start , there’s many in your capital city, I just felt adventurous and tried the next model , because I had the part in my hand ,
Hope this helps , inspection of this gearbox / brake unit Directly under the tub , located above the fan belt Pulley ($200.00) and is not available at spare parts white good seller, on Ebay I’ve seen a seller , not a white good spare parts seller sell this, , this unit stops the tub from spinning like a brake calliper on a car , when the door is opened And when the tub is spinning , So for safety, So no there’s threat of getting caught in the spinning , tube , the tub is spinning at a frightful fast rpm , So getting caught in it , especially but the inertia, will kill !! Fully loaded with wet towels !!!
Wish I had a photo , 1580420 IS THE PART NO. FROM Bigwarehouse spares online , Not Simpson part number ? the part number searched on the site will/ should show a picture , hope this helps and good luck :) I’ve ordered the part .
I’ve also inspected the ratchet gear spoke wheel on the shaft is sound and not missing any gear teeth ( this is the gear the small cam finger locks onto )most important to checked the whole system for even Free play on the main washer machine shaft , good luck and Godspeed :)
