I had a similar isue some time ago, and I found two sources of unusual noise.
1) The fan near the compressor was unevenly loaded with some very dusty spider webs. Easy to cleane up, Just a light cover to remove.
Need to move the freeser to access that cover.
2) The motor for fan next to the evaporator had faulty bearings and needed to be replaced. About $20 to get a new motor that I replaced myself.
Needed to remove a cover at the back of the freezer to access the motor.
In both cases, you need to unplug or set the temperature controlls to OFF.
