Mend Off Door Wont Back

I have taken the handle off my upvc door but it won't go back?

In which direction should I push it there doesn't seem to be a gap anywhere.

Thanks I have taken you advice and pushed the metal back up. Had to take the strip off the side of the door to get to it and then had the problem of lining up the spindle and screw holes, all done now.
