Mend Renault Clio Battery Engine Dashboard

My clio won't start!!?

My W (2000) reg clio wont start...it turns over ok but wont "fire up" Red light on dashboard flashes very fast, also orange airbag light stays on. It all started bout six weeks ago.... tried to centrally lock car using "pressy bit" on key but did not work. Got a new battery for said "pressy bit" on key fob but did not work. I did manage to get car started eventually by playing around with key press bit. Would have to turn off engine press key..... turn back on and keep doing this..... or get out of car, lock door press key or a combination of these. Tried this last night for bout half an hour but this time red light would not stop flashing fast ....so not allowing engine to "fire up" Would appreciate some advice ..book says "consult renault dealer" I don't have lot of money..... an need my car for long drive to work tmorrow morning (early). Public transport does not meet the challenge...... any help pleeeese?

disconnect the battery, leave it a couple of minutes, then re-connect. Worked for me

As you say you don't have a lot of money, the best thing you can do is get it to a scrap yard before it costs you a lot more money in the future, at least you will get something for it to put towards a decent set of wheels. As you have found out, Renaults are not the most reliable cars, just type in Renault in the search box where you will find hundreds of problems with them.
