Bosch WTL6106 Dryer?

ok Angie actually you can rely on the "empty res" light to tell you whether or not the sump is full or empty, as we know the float switch works. Light on sump is full, light off sump is empty. Let me know when it is leaking if light is on or off. If you come back to me or need more info come back on a new question page to save having to backtrack to this old page, you can address it to me. OK, will check that, will have to take the plastic cover off, otherwise I can't see into the sump. The side panel and top have been off for weeks....no point putting it back together until it works properly.
Ran it today and it all worked fine, but it was a small load of light stuff. Cleaned the condenser again too, just in case....

Hi angie, ok you can check this by removing the side panel when it is leaking and check if the sump is full, if so check if pump is running. If NOT running must be a module fault because the pump is new. If pump running and sump full there is blockage from pump to collector box. If sump is not full and pump is running is condensation in fan casing. ( I've never had a fault of the module not supplying voltage to the pump intermittently in 35 years of repairing Bosch appliances so not confident that's the prob, but there's always a first time.) Hi Kenjo, I have had the condenser unit out and cleaned very, very thoroughly, so don't think it can be that. And I think there is too much water coming out for it to be that. It seems to me that for some reason the pump does not always turn on as it should. Then water builds up in the fan housing until it leaks out.

Hi Angie thanks for info, the reason I asked about flooding is I think the problem is the condenser is not working efficiently, no doubt you have cleaned the condenser front to rear as is normal, the way it works is the warm moist air travels from front to rear, whilst the cold condensing air travels from side to side, I think the side to side channels may be blocked with sludge from the flood, its a very fine mesh, try to clean this with a hose or better still a pressure washer. If not working efficiently the excessive warm moist air can cause condensation in the fan housing. Sounds like you know your machine quite well by now. Cheers

Hi Kenjo. The flooding I mentioned was when my house got flooded, lots of mud and crap got into the bottom of the dryer.
It tripped the electric lots of times until I took the back heating element cover off as water was bring thrown up from the fan.
When it leaks It is leaking from the fan. It is not a huge amount, just steady drip.
I have been told that the problem must be with the control module as the pump motor obviously works some , but not all of the time. A very expensive part to replace.....so hoping there is a work around to fix this. Thanks again for helping, you have given me more insight into the problems.

added info, under normal correct running conditions the float switch never operates at all. Cheers

Hi Angie the only function of the float switch is to switch on the "empty res" light when the water level in the sump is high, it does not switch on the pump or stop the machine so it is functioning ok, if it was faulty all that would happen is the empty res light would not come on, sump only reaches this level if you don't empty the box or a faulty pump or blockage. The pump is switched on by the timer I'm thinking the problem is elsewhere lets get back to brass tacks , when the machine leaks do you get the empty res light on as well? also can you give me the answers to the diagnostic questions in my last post so I can get a better picture of the fault, many thanks ,process of elimination we should solve it. Hi kenjo, Had the machine apart again today, cleaned through and then with the dryer running full of wet clothes added water until the container was full. The "empty res" light came on, but the machine did not stop. So it must still be a problem with the float, even though it is a new switch, is there anything else that could stop the float switch working properly.?

Can you give me more details of where the water leak is Angie, sounds like coming out of the bottom of the rear fan cover ?, also very much or just a little? also when you say only happened after a flood do you mean the machine flooded or a house flood? Cheers

The water definitely gets up to the box, so all hoses are clear, but sometimes when I run it it leaks from the back, driving me crazy, have had it apart again today, cleans everything I can get into. Found that channel you mention, and made sure it was clear. Poured water through, the pump works, the float works. But there is an intermittent problem. Started after the dryer was flooded...

Is the water getting up to the collector box? If not and you have changed the pump etc could be a fluff blockage in the hose that runs up to the box or the final plastic elbow where it enters the box. Also there is a small channel in the sump between the sump and the cavity behind the condenser box, often blocked. I presume you can hear the pump running? Cheers
