Mend JVC HR-A41U Cassette Recorder Stuck

how to eject a stuck tape?

I have a JVC HR-A41U 4 head VCR and the tape will not eject. It plays and records, but will not eject. Whe I push the eject button it seems like it tries, but then just shuts off. Any hints?
