There are two SCART sockets on the back of my LV880 VHS. The top one is called AV1, and is connected to the SCART output socket at the back of my Philips TV. In digital mode (VHS switched off) press the button which displays the program list (it has a diagram of an open book on my remote). Then you can press the red button which will display a page on which you can enter date, start and finish time, and program. Press the red button again to set the recording. Now switch on your VHS, and the display should change to EXT-2 (if it doesn't, set this up as described by Cobweb). Now press the menu button on the LV880 remote; you will get a screen with lots of icons, and you can use the right and left arrow button to go through them. You need the first icon - REC, so press the OK button twice and you will get a screen on which you can scroll (using up or down arrows) to enter AV1 as program name, then scroll down to enter date and times. Press the menu button on the remote to save this data. DO NOT FORGET TO SWITCH OFF YOUR VHS!!!
When recording from digital, you CANNOT watch another digital programme, though you can watch analogue TV.
Sounds tedious, but with practice it takes only a couple of minutes, or less.
