Mend Crate G40C XL Power Amp Cable

no power on crate g40c xl?

I found this crate g40c xl amp in a foreclosure clean up. Someone cut the power cable , speaker cables, and lines to the reverb. I put a new power cable on it to see if it worked,and it did'nt. I was going to try to sell it on ebay. Any way , the fuse looks good but the light does'nt come on,and it does'nt make a sound. I'm about ready to throw it away, never been a crate man any way. Got any ideas? Thanks , Furman Watson

The fuse looks good?

If it's a glass fuse and you can see the wire link inside then perhaps it does look good - but it's best to test the fuse anyway.

And the light that doesn't come on - does it show mains power connected or the amplifier ready to amplify? I suspect the first.

Without test equipment (multimeter) it will be difficult to make much progress.

I guess that it has a serious fault that blows the fuse as soon as it gets switched on but that's just a wild guess. Its internal power supply appears not to be working.
