Vauxhall Astra not displaying outside air temperature?

I had this problem with my Vauxhall Astra. I took the sensor off, it's located at the front of the bonnet behind the grill/bumber but in front of the radiator. It appears it had been removed when some work was done on it as it was wet and the seal not correctly in place; I dried it out and made sure the seal was firmly in place. After a day or so it worked fine again and has done since.
