Mend Hoover Dryer Drum

Hoover softwave 1200 dryer problem?

I have a hoover 1200 softwave (HSWD 126); the dryer does not work; the drum rotates left, then right, the drain pump works. However, power is applied to the heater terminals, and the fan does no more than periodically start up then stops after about two seconds. Any ideas? thanks Henry
