whats the problem?

Set machine to do a wash cycle on "40" and still running after 3 hours need to stop it manually?

element or thermostat,or,if its heating,and thermostat is ok,then its the stepping motor on timer thats o/c once the thermostat has closed,it send a pulse to the stepping motor on timer,this moves it on to the next stage
