Mend LG Fill Machine Water

LG, new pump fitted but now wont fill machine, it just pumps water straight?

A sock got stuck in my LG F1403FD washing machine. It couldnt get to it but it eventually came out in wee bits out the drain. Have tried 3 times after this washing to use the machine but it only went through a cycle until drain time and machine went silent. They discontinued my model of the machine not very long after it was out so some times toil to get the exact parts. I ordered a new pump and housing and it fitted in straight away. I was very excited to get my machine working again but now Ive plugged it in....The washing machine is pumping out the water as soon as its going in so will not fill up with water. Is there any thing I can do or do I have another problem on top of the pump. The LE light comes on after a couple of minutes. Cols it be that its not the exact same part numbers for the pumps but they are meant to being used on my models or what else would it now be for me to try and fix, could it be a sensor, wiring or do you think since the pump must have gone faulty with the sock that it has may be burnt out some thing on the main board ??? I dont want to say good bye to my machine unless I have to. Only other thing I can add, is when the old, not working pump is in, it dos start to do the programmed wash and only comes to a stand still at pumping out time.
Many Thanks for any help.

Hi, I dont know if any one will come back on my question but if so could you please help me. I did the QC test and through out the pump is making a noise, and just keeps draining out. Once I switch the power button on and switch off again the pump noise is still going until I take the plug out so is constant live some where. I have looked up the PCB boards but there are two, one is a smaller one, the main power board and the other is the bigger main board, would I have to change both ?? or what one would it most likely be so I could may be try one at a time in the hope I get it right as to buy the two boards unless second hand would cost me more than buying a new machine. Thank you for any help.

Hi Angela, sorry to hear about your machine but it does sound like the pcb has gone unfortunately.

Why don't you try running diagnostics, this will involve putting the machine into "QC Test Mode"?.

It will give you the ability to either run or stop the pump,if the pump can't be stopped running in test mode then that's a sure sign of a damaged pcb.

I've given you a link below for the service manual which will give you the test mode info and more, gud luck girl :).

Sounds to me like the old pump is completely stuffed that is why it will not run at all. That pump may have damaged the triac on the PCB control board. The triac will switch the pump on and off when it is told to do so. If the triac is damaged it can be permanently on, so the new pump will run all the time. Sometimes the triac can be identified and replaced by a board repairer. A new board will be quite expensive. You really need to test and be sure it is faulty PCB before replacing it.

Thank you, Im not very clued up Im afraid, its the first time Ive tried to fix a machine and Id like to if possible as it the first one Ive ever had for so long and is the best Ive had. No water leaked out when the pump was changed as I fully emptied the machine first and the few spots that did were caught with a towel and not near any wiring. The old pump coils are quite rusty so to me any way I cant really tell if they have burnt out but think they would have as the stuck sock made it go in to over drive so it could be that it did short the pcb in some way (Sorry for being a bit dim but I take it the PCB is the programme Circuit board) The thing I do not understand is, the old pump, while still in, the programme ran until it came to draining, then when the new pump went in today it on a programme start up while it was trying to put water in it jut drained it out straight away. On putting the old pump back in its back to the programme letting water go and stay in the drum to start the washing and back to when its time to drain it stops as the old pump we know doesnt work, all the wires and fittings look fine and all the same so Im just scared f I go out now and buy a new programme board it still will not work.

Just a thought but did you let water run in to the base when you removed the pump as some machines have a float switch anti flood system that makes the drain pump run 24/7 when switched on.If this is the case (as might not be fitted to yours) you need to make sure all the water is out the base before trying

sounds as if the old pump has shorted out the pcb and it is now aways live hence when new pump fitted it runs all the time.did the coils on the old pump look as if it had burnt out/got hot?.this would be a go indication that the pcb may of been damaged

Thank you :-) the drain hose is in the same place as before and sits just above the height of the machine so with all being the same as before on drains i dont think its that, as it comes gushing out as soon as its trying to go in xxx

check the height of the drain hose, the water could be syphoning out while filling
