Hotpoint Door lock alarm?

Hi, i have a Hotpoint Ultima Extra, 1600 WMA63 model. when i shut the door and press start, the door lock alarm flashes red (Keyhole symbol). I have taken the electrical switch out and it seems undamaged, would the first course of action be to change this switch?
