my hotpoint BWM129 washing machine door lock light keeps flashing?

heya,
my hotpoint BWM129 washing machine door lock light keeps flashing and won't start my wash. it was working fine the other day when I used it with no indication anything was wrong. i've tried thumping it closed a bit to see if the lock will catch but so far no joy. can anyone help ???
