Mend Delonghi DW47S Water Months Programme

Delonghi DW47S Dishwasher not spraying water?

Dishwasher is in a rental property and has not been used for about 6 months. When I turn it on everything seems OK, programme selected starts but after afew minutes there are thumping and banging noises. When I open the door there is a lot of steam but the spray arms have not moved. I have tipped it forward and drained water but this makes no difference. I have checked that water is getting to the machine and that the spray arms are not blocked.
