How to get to HDMI screen?

I can't to the HDMI screen on the telly and can't therefore get SKY. The remote doesn't appear to work and I've pressed menu on the side of the set and can't for the life of me work out how to do it!

press the AV on the remote, and see if it will show HDMI 1 OR HDMI 2, on the list that pops up , then use the up or down arrow on the remote to pick HDMI, and then press ok" on the remote, or go to the tv and press the AV button on the side, and do the same,
