Mend Bath Mixer Tap Water

bath mixer tap not working?

when i pull the diverter up water only trickles through,but works fine on the down position for the taps,i have always ran the cold first as i know there is a sensor to stop burning,so i have always done this,then one day it ceases to work,what can be wrong.i have unscrewed it and put it bk on,with no joy,please help
