Mend Delonghi Replace Pcb Working

How do I replace a Delonghi DEM10 dehumidifier capacitor on the pcb?

Hi, I was very pleased to find a thread about non working compressors on DEM10's and replacing the capacitor may well be a possible solution, but as a novice in electronics could someone please explain the procedure once the board has been exposed? I believe that the capacitor has 2 pins which plug into the PCB but some contributors have also mentioned soldering. Must the old pins be desoldered on the reverse side of the board before the capacitor can be removed and the new ones soldered on? And is the spacing between the pins of the replacement capacitor critical to within 0.5mm as I haven't been able to source a new one of precisely the same size? Thanks for reading my query.

Thanks for the clarification, I was able to buy a pair (minimum quantity) of capacitors matching exactly the original specification from uk.rs-online.com for a couple of Pounds and once soldered on everything is working again like new. Thanks again for providing me with the diagnosis and repair instructions without which the dehumidifier was destined for the skip.

you need to desolder old one and resolder new one.Capacitor must be same uF value and have a working voltage the same as the old one or higher. The pinout to .5mm isn't an issue as Capacitor legs bend
