When I switch the tv on, it 'trips' off back to standby. It used to stay on for an hour or two, but not any more.

Usually due to short circuit line output transistor Q551.
There is a repair kit for this part: Kit number TZSSEK001.
Includes new transistor 2SD1577LB for improved reliability.
