Mend Grohe Toilet Cistern Float

Slow fill of toilet cistern?

My Grohe cistern has started to take an eternity to fill. If I fiddle with the float tube it starts to fill correctly.
I have removed the fill valve assembly and taken it apart, but there doesn't seem anything wrong.
Has anybody had a similar experience and can give advice?
