I have a Zanussi Jetstream FJ 1200 that has developed a glitch. ?

When I set a spin programme, it makes a strange purring noise, doesn't spin then tries several times to start the programme again. I tried a wool wash this afternoon and it went through the wash cycles but without the drum rotating. I did, somehow, get the 1200 spin to work once but not since.....can you help?
