Zanussi jet stream 1200 start pause button?

My zanussi machine when the program is set the start pause button flashes and the machine is paused. I checked the delay button set to 0 hours and the start button still flashes. Set delay button to 1 hour say the start button can be pressed and it remains green showing machine ready to start. after the hour the machine does not start. Reset the program check the amber light on door shows closed and try again but same result. Any clues.
