washing machine door will not release ?

Hotpoint 6 kg WML 540 Aquarius washing machine.
The door will not release. Any tips on how to open the door. Full of washed clothes!

handles burst by the sound of it, turn off power, remove lid, using a flat bladed screw driver you should be able to push the metal door hook from the inside of the door lock. This will allow you to get your clothes out at least. Handles quite easy to replace. Good luck

Thanks Homer, I have pulled the green lever, door did not open. I think there is a fault with the door release mechanism as the paddle behind the door handle has lost its springy feeling and just moves forwards and backwards with no resistance. I think time to call a technician,. What do you think?

remove the kickstrip at the bottom, there should be a green plastic lever at the bottom right hand side, pulling this will release the door
