Caravan door lock faulty?

First try a good dose of WD40 see if the lock works. Then of course change it. Or........Drill it out the lock and break away the plastic. Or you could try the following if you can get the saloon roof light open try hooking up the lock handle using bamboo canes strapped/taped together with a wire hook on the end.
