How can I get new fuel lines through holes in case to gas tank ?

I have 2 16" poulan chain saws with rotted out and cracked fuel lines. I purchased fuel line kits at Lowes that are the correct Inner diameter, but can't get line through holes in plastic case and into tank. Is there a special tool or a secret to contracting hose long enough to get into tank?????
