Mend Vaillant EcoTEC Boiler Combi

takes time for hot water to flow then stops with cold water?

vailant boiler comes on when i open my hot water tap, but takes time for hot water to flow then after a minute cold water starts. I switch the tap off and re-open it and then it would work why is this? combi boiler over 10 years old.
