Mend Chevy Monte Carlo Problem Engine Lose

what could be the problem?

I had to accelerate my engine on my 1999 ChevyMonte Carlo. My engine made a noise and started to drag and lose power. It sounds like a knock but also sounds like the timing may be off. What could be the problem?

dont know much about these vehicles but sounds like timing slipped first get your belt or chain checked then if petrol you timing
