Mend Whirlpool Ultimate Care II Washer Agitator

How come my washer will not agitate?

It works fine except it dosen't seem to move the clothes around while washing. When empty the agitator seems loose and will spin in both directions. Is this normal or how can we tighten it?
It is a Whirlpoool ultimate care II.

Hello,

It sounds like your agitator dogs are worn. If you remove the top part of the agitator and turn it over the four dogs are underneath.
