Pump making loud noise but not pumping?

When I try to release the steam the pump make a loud noise the no steam is coming out. Also the ‘drop’ symbol on the base than come on. I thought it might be a block in the pipe, so I have checked the pipe between the pump and the tank and it is okay. Do you have any idea what this could be?
