morphy richards steam iron smoking?

The steam iron is ommiting smoke from the front pointed end of iron, I have looked at cable entry terminals and some are rusty. I have plugged appliance back in and although the fuse has not blown neither has rcd in electric box the red light on iron is not lit anymore on any setting.

their is also a inline thermofuse some where,it is a small metal thing that look like the point of a pencil with wire going thru it and temp indication written on it must give continuity when checked with multimeter.it is normally covered with a heat shrink plastic or high temp sleeving
