If you replace the CMOS/BIOS battery which is located under your RAM memory, this should fix it. Part number 02K6486. You can get one on eBay for about $6, which includes shipping.

I think you need to replace the lithium back up battery(CR????) type which should only cost around a couple of pounds/dollars.After you replace it you will need to set up your clock then your laptop should boot.

Your best bet is to go through the diagnostic procedure in the Hardware Maintenance Manual. Assuming that you don't have a manual, you can download one from: www.lenovo.com. (Lenovo own all of IBM's PC assets now.)
