vivaro bad starter cold and hot?

06 vivaro 1.9. Was having problems starting from cold and also from hot. Give it a sniff of easy start and it ran fine until switched off, then problems again. Been in the garage 3 weeks now, had the injectors out and tested fine, damaged No1 injector trying to remove it. Head off to machine it out. Bought used injector had it tested ok. Replaced head with new gasket, belt and water pump and head bolts. Problem became worse as it wouldnt run under 1100rpm. Fuel pump off and tested fine put back on and worse again wont run at all now. running out of money and ideas as the mechanic says its not going to beat him but he seems to be gaining his experiance on this vehicle at my expence. Any ideas welcomed.
