1999 ford transit 2.5 d fuel problems?

If you look on the side of the diesel pump you will see two adjusting screws one is for the idle speed the other does not seem to do anything. You need to insert a 20 mm block between this screw and the throttle stop plate.then look at the lever on the intake housing.The bit where the link rod attaches.You should see a hole in the arm and a hole in the alloy casting these should align. I think your link rod is to long if you van is smoking and not getting any air .
