Mend John Deere Timing

timing an 1120 john deere tractor?

I did a rebuild on the 3 cyl diesel on my 1120 john deere tractor. I lined up the timing marks on the cam and fuel pump as they were before teardown. Now it smoes lots of white smoke but won't start.
