Mend Hotpoint WMA34 Washing Machine Repair Spinning

fitting brushes to a hotpoint WMA34?

My hotpoint washing machine WMA34 1000spin is making a noise when spinning like a lolly stick in the wheels of a bicycle. I suspect new brushes need fitted. Does anyone have a diagram for this repair and how difficult are they to fit?

just done mine, and mine cost £15.00.
no need to take off the motor or belt at all,un-plumb your washer, then lay it on its back, from here the brushes are accessable, disconnect the wire to the metal housing and gently prize it out,re-fit the new brush and slide back in and re-fit the the plastic cover.the back one is a bit fiddly as i have big hands, just un clip the back plastic housing, remove the wire to the metal housing and again prize it out,re-fit the new brushes and slot it back in,like i said the back one is fiddly but it can be done, without the need to remove he motor, belt,or anything else. re-plumb and your sorted.

replacing the carbon brushes on the wma34 are easy,

just slip the blet off the motor spindle first which is easy part,
then u need a 13mm socket to undo the 2 bolts holding the motor to the drum, gently pull the plastic splatter sheld off the top of the motor and then disconnect all the wires from the mortor and pull it out from under,

once motor is out, place on a work bench and undo the carbon burshes lift the spade connector up and gently push down and the brush should come out cleanly,

(carbon bushes cost me £15,)

now for the fiddly bit placing the new brushes, use a small flat pladed screw driver just to hold the spring down by the side part of the brush holder while u are feeding the rest if the spring in to its home, the same with the other brush,

and then refit the motor back in to the machine,

to reconnect the belt back to the motor can be tricky, I place the belt over the motor spindle and then feed the belt up to the drum and then place half of the belt over the drum wheel and then use the drum to leaver the belt back on, by turning the drum,

time to do job about 30mins that including checking things over unplumming and replumming,,

once job done place the machine on a empty wash cycle this will help the bushes to wear in better, and then place on to a fast spin, once this is done its then ready for normal washing cycle,

just personal advice,
i must add DO NOT leave worn brushes too long other wise it will blow a massive black patch on the control board and some of the circut tracks have blown to nothing which leaves you with a £100 replacement

just looking for advice on my own WMA34 problem !

I've had the problem you describe - turned out to be a bra underwire that had found its way out of a bra and through the holes in the drum and was making a lt of a noise when the drum went round. The faster it went the more noise it made.
