how can I fix my simpson 750 esprit washing machine?

what causes water valve to not work thru cold side and only thru hot side.had to rerout cold water inlet thru hot vale inlet side to workAlso function valve switch program selection stopping operation when not finished.Machine is over 10 yrs and is manual switching model
