Creda 17110 - Door lock light wont activate?

Ok....I have a fault with my washing machine. It shows no signs of life when switched on....no door locked light etc.

I felt that this was probably a fault with the interlocker as I had to meddle with the old one to get the door open - it had stuck closed before the wash cycle started or any water entered the drum.

I had noticed that when i pushed the old interlocker to the side, the lock light came on and water started to flow, so I assumed that must be the fault.

New interlocker installed now and absolutely no change - I notice that the machine continues to kick into life when the "lock" mechanism is slid to one side.

So....why might the door closing not be starting the "lock" sequence when there is no fault with the interlocker?
