Mend Brother Boutique 21 Sewing Machine Thread Fabric

How to fix timing on Brother Boutique 21 sewing machine?

Please help! Yesterday I was sewing several layers of PUL and cotton, when the threads got all caught up and the fabric stuck. The only way I could remove it was to cut the threads, and pull the fabric out quite hard. I have since changed the bobbin and the needle, and removed all lint from around the shuttle race. However, the bobbin will not thread now. The bobbin inserts into the bobbin case just fine, and the bobbin case inserts into the shuttle race, but when the needle is lowered it does not pick up the bobbin thread.

I spoke to somebody over the phone who said it sounds like the hook timing is out of whack. He can fix it, but it will take two weeks because of a backlog, and I need my machine urgently. I am wondering if you might be able to tell me how to fix this myself? I would greatly appreciate any help you can provide.
